Annie and Chris are one of those couples that instantly make you smile. From the moment I met them during their engagement session, I knew their wedding day was going to be something special. They’re not afraid to be goofy, excited, and downright expressive. Their energy is infectious, and they bring out the best in each other. I remember thinking, “This is going to be fun!” And it truly was. They were getting married at one of my favorite Maine venues—The Barn at Silver Oaks Estate in Winthrop, Maine. With such an awesome couple and a stunning venue, I knew the day would be unforgettable!
Silver Oaks Wedding
After Annie and Chris spent the morning getting ready, they took a moment to read the letters they had written for each other. It was a beautiful way to start the celebration. We then headed to the venue for their first look, a moment that was nothing short of magical. Annie looked absolutely stunning in her form-fitting 2-piece dress, the top of which was intricately covered in beads. Instead of a veil, she chose a matching headband that perfectly complemented her look. What made her outfit even more special was the ring she wore—a cherished piece that had belonged to Chris’ mom.
The Barn at Silver Oaks Estate offers so many incredible spots for photos, ranging from charming medieval paths to pine-studded meadows, lush gardens, scenic railways, and quiet lakefront views. We made sure to take full advantage! The ceremony itself was heartwarming, with Chris’ grandmother playing a significant role. She lovingly pinned his boutonniere and proudly walked him to the altar. It was such a touching moment, especially when she carried flowers to place in the seat where Chris’ mother would have sat. As Annie and Chris exchanged their vows, you could tell they were surrounded by pure joy. After the ceremony, once everyone had cleared, we stayed behind to capture some more intimate moments of the newlyweds, including a fun shot of them enjoying their first oyster and champagne pop together as husband and wife! One of the unique traditions at Silver Oaks Estate is that every married couple gets to attach a lock with their names on a gate—a sweet reminder of their love.
The Barn Reception
From there, we made our way to the barn for the reception, and let me tell you, the venue did an amazing job making everything look beautiful! The barn was filled with love, laughter, and the delicious aroma of the incredible food everyone enjoyed. The music was fantastic, setting the perfect tone for a night of celebration. One of the highlights had to be the station where guests could grab a photo with a cutout of Annie and Chris’ dog—such a fun and personal touch!
The first dance was a particularly memorable moment. Chris’ grandmother joined him for the dance, and it was such a sweet sight to see. Meanwhile, Annie shared a dance with her father, and the joy on their faces was priceless. Soon after, the dance floor was packed with guests of all ages, everyone eager to join in the celebration. You could really feel the love and support for Annie and Chris, and it was clear how much they mean to everyone there.
I had an absolute blast photographing their big day, and as always, working at The Barn at Silver Oaks Estate was a pleasure. It’s a venue that I highly recommend, not just for its beauty, but for the warmth and charm it brings to every wedding. Annie and Chris’ wedding was a day to remember, and I’m so grateful to have been a part of it!
