Overlande + Matt’s Lake Parlin Wedding

Overlande and Matt wanted their wedding to be a true reflection of who they are—genuine, down-to-earth, and filled with joy. So, they chose the serene beauty of Lake Parlin, which is nestled deep in the Western Mountains of Maine. There, they could keep things low-key and relaxed. They thought it would be fun to bring their families together for a weekend of fire pits, laughter, and kayaking on the lake. Lake Parlin offers all these activities for free to its guests, and they provide everything you need to enjoy a day on the water. Overlande and Matt are two of the most genuine, happy, go-getter people I’ve ever had the pleasure of photographing, and I absolutely adore them.

Lake Parlin Wedding

One of my favorite parts of any wedding day is photographing the soon-to-be bride and groom as they get ready. It’s a time filled with sentimental moments and special interactions with family, and Overlande and Matt’s day was no exception. I loved how Overlande had a handkerchief made for her dad that said “For Happy Tears.” It was such a thoughtful and sweet touch. After everyone was ready, Overlande and Matt shared a beautiful first look by the lake, surrounded by towering trees and the peaceful water. The weather was absolutely perfect. We even managed to capture a photo of the two of them in a canoe, which was such a fun and unique experience. Their ceremony took place right in front of Lake Parlin, with all their loved ones looking on. It was a picture-perfect moment! We also had some fun with family photos back at the cabin, including a dramatic, serious shot that I enhanced with lighting to create a bold effect.

Celebrating Overlande + Matt

The reception at Lake Parlin was a true celebration of love and happiness. The night was filled with dancing, laughter, and delicious food that everyone enjoyed. As the evening came to a close, I grabbed the newlyweds for one last dramatic photo in front of the cabin. The glow from the lights and the joy on their faces made for a perfect ending to their incredible day. Overlande and Matt looked so happy, and I felt honored to have been a part of their special day!
