Katie and James’ Hidden Pond Wedding

James and Katie had one of the most spectacularly rainy wedding days!!! What do you get when you have rain on a wedding day, combined with a couple that was willing to get a few drops on them???? You get some amazing images!!!!!

They were married at Hidden Pond in Kennebunkport, Maine, a gorgeous property with luxurious cabins, antique bicycles for guests to use, adorable signs marking the way to all the activities they offer, and a wonderful staff that literally built an arch/chuppah only hours before the ceremony, knowing it had to be moved inside due to the weather. They cut birch trees from the woods and whipped together a chuppah that became the perfect backdrop for the ceremony.

Wedding planning by Daisies and Pearls was impeccable as always, and the colors used at this wedding by Minka Flowers took my breath away! The hanging centerpiece in the reception barn was to die for!!! And Katie’s dress was handmade for her in Portugal!! One of the most simple, classic, and beautiful dresses I’ve ever seen!

Katie and James decided on doing a first look together before the ceremony, and the rain held out until we could get some photos of them together, including James riding one of the antique bikes, before having to head inside to finish the wedding party photographs.

The ceremony included some Jewish traditions like breaking glass, followed by Yichud, which I believe should be a tradition that all couples should consider on their wedding day! And, one of my favorite parts of Jewish weddings…. the Horah!!! Katie and James’s faces were priceless as they held onto their chairs for dear life! Ha!!! At the end of the evening, donuts were served for dessert, and they had me photograph them sharing a bite or two as their guests partied hard on the dance floor.

As I picked up to leave for the evening, I couldn’t help but ask if they would be willing to step outside for just a few minutes to capture a couple truly epic images in the rain, and I’m so happy they agreed. The umbrella photo is one of my absolute favorite of the day! I wish them both love and laughter in their marriage, and so many many many years together! xoxo
