James + Angel, Romantic Proposal in Acadia National Park

James and Angel Proposal (1)If this isn’t the most romantic proposal you’ve ever heard of, I don’t know what is.
James contacted me a few weeks before he wanted to propose to Angel. They were planning a weekend in Acadia National Park in Bar Harbor, Maine to celebrate an anniversary of their relationship, and James wanted to propose.

His idea was laid out to the very last detail. Angel had always wanted to have an Australian Shepherd and wanted to name it Mica. So what did Jim do? Without Angel knowing, he found the puppy she had been syping online and bought it for her, coaxed two amazing friends of Angel’s to come to Maine for the weekend without telling her, and asked me to hike up Gorham Mountain pre-dawn with Angel’s friends and a puppy in a doggie backpack. Jim took great lengths to make this perfect. He remembered from years ago that Angel loved marquise cut stones, so the ring he chose was a marquise diamond. Her favorite stone is a sapphire, so he had a little sapphire set into the sides of the ring. He put a little name tag on the puppy that read “Mica”, and took a trip from Delaware to Maine the week before this special day to hike the mountain at dawn and choose the perfect location to pop the question. He even marked it with GPS!

When the day came, we hiked, and we hit the summit and waited for them to arrive. We had also brought a large basket that James wanted the puppy to be in so that when Angel came across it she would wonder what it was and look inside.
It worked flawlessly. We hid in the trees until they appeared at the summit. Angel wondered what the basket was and he suggested they look inside. When she did her reaction was priceless and as she began to cry and ask him how he could have possibly made this happen, I came out from the trees and photographed them together, as Angel wiped tears from her eyes.

As she collected herself, she turned to see Jim kneel and open a ring box, and the waterworks started all over again. She sobbed and her happiness even made me cry!!! Jim stood and helped Angel put Mica back into the basket temporarily so that he could kneel again and officially ask for her hand in marriage and put the ring on her finger. Of course she said YES!!!

As she pulled Mica back out of the basket to snuggle her, I gave Angel’s friends, still in the bushes, the thumbs up and they emerged. Angel looked up as they approached and her knees almost buckled as she started to cry for the third time that day, sharing such an amazing moment with people so close to her.

After some hugs and makeup adjustments (lol) we ventured back down the mountain and stopped in some gorgeous spots along the way forengagement photos.

This couple is the sweetest, and James just beems when he knows he’s making her happy. It’s a fantastic thing to witness when two people are so happy together.
I love this couple! And I’m crossing my fingers I get to be there as their photographer when they tie the knot, too!!!James and Angel Proposal (2)James and Angel Proposal (3)James and Angel Proposal (4)James and Angel Proposal (5)James and Angel Proposal (6)James and Angel Proposal (7)James and Angel Proposal (8)James and Angel Proposal (9)James and Angel Proposal (10)James and Angel Proposal (11)James and Angel Proposal (12)James and Angel Proposal (13)James and Angel Proposal (14)James and Angel Proposal (15)James and Angel Proposal (16)James and Angel Proposal (17)James and Angel Proposal (18)James and Angel Proposal (19)James and Angel Proposal (20)James and Angel Proposal (21)James and Angel Proposal (22)James and Angel Proposal (23)James and Angel Proposal (24)James and Angel Proposal (25)James and Angel Proposal (26)James and Angel Proposal (27)James and Angel Proposal (28)
