If you’re dreaming of a coastal Maine wedding that feels like a romantic getaway and looks like something out of a magazine, The Samoset Resort in Rockport is the kind of place that will take your breath away. Nestled on 230 oceanfront acres with sweeping views of Penobscot Bay, this resort is one of a kind and truly spectacular! Jack and Janelle’s wedding was the perfect coastal celebration.
Samoset Wedding
The day began with a calm buzz of excitement as everyone got ready. Jack and Janelle each took a quiet moment alone to read letters they had written to one another — it was so sweet!
Then came the ceremony, and wow — it’s hard to describe just how stunning the setting was. Right in front of the water, with sailboats dotting the bay and the salty breeze drifting through, the backdrop couldn’t have been more perfect. The Samoset Resort somehow manages to feel grand and intimate all at once, making it a flawless location for saying “I do.”
When Janelle walked down the aisle, she looked absolutely radiant. The way Jack looked at her? Total heart-melter. With the ocean behind them and their loved ones gathered close, the ceremony couldn’t have been more perfect.
A Reception to Remember at the Penobscot Bay Pavilion
After the ceremony, we explored the resort for portraits, and honestly — every single corner of The Samoset is photo-ready. The grounds are manicured and elegant, but still feel warm and inviting, with the ocean never out of view. I got some of my favorite photos of the day right by the water, with Jack and Janelle standing hand in hand as sailboats drifted in the background. It looked like a dream — timeless, coastal, and effortlessly romantic.
The wedding party was an absolute blast to work with, and the energy was contagious. We wandered across the venue capturing everything from silly group shots to elegant portraits. The beauty of working at The Samoset is that no matter where you turn, it’s picture-perfect.
Once the portraits wrapped up, it was time to head to the Penobscot Bay Pavilion — and this is where the magic really continued. The space was decorated beautifully, with a clean, elegant all-white theme that felt both grand and modern.
Dancing, Glow Sticks & Coastal Vibes
Once dinner wrapped up (and yes, the food and drinks were amazing), the real party started. The dance floor came alive with guests of all ages showing off their moves, and glow sticks lit up the room in every direction. It was such a fun, high-energy way to celebrate — and so visually fun to photograph. There’s something about a dance floor full of glowing colors and laughter that just screams “best night ever.”
Now let me take a minute to talk about the DJ — because WOW. Hands down, one of the best DJs I’ve ever worked with. From the music selection to the seamless mixing to how well he read the room and kept the vibe going strong — it was flawless. His MC work was polished and every transition felt smooth and natural. You know it’s a good night when the dance floor is packed from the first song to the last.
As the night went on, the sunset cast a soft light across the resort, and I pulled Jack and Janelle aside for one last photo together. It was the perfect way to end the day — just the two of them, with the sky glowing behind them. I also grabbed a final candid of Jack enjoying a celebratory cigar.
Jack and Janelle’s wedding at The Samoset Resort was amazing! Every part of it — from the serene start to the energetic ending — felt full of love, intention, and celebration. And of course, The Samoset itself? It’s hard to overstate how perfect this venue is for couples looking for that upscale coastal vibe without losing the charm that makes Maine weddings so special. Between the ocean views, the elegant spaces, and the top-notch staff, it’s a dream destination for both couples and photographers.
Jack and Janelle, thank you for trusting me to capture such an unforgettable day. You two were a joy to photograph, and your wedding was nothing short of magical. Wishing you a lifetime of laughter, love, and maybe a few more glow-stick dance parties along the way!
