When I arrived at the Hyatt Regency Boston Harbor to capture Kate and Krishna’s wedding, I was immediately struck by the breathtaking beauty of the venue. Situated with the best view of Boston as the backdrop, their special day unfolded against panoramic city views, with the shimmering Boston Harbor right at their feet. It was a picturesque setting, perfect for such a joyous occasion.
Indian Wedding
Kate looked absolutely stunning in her blue and white Lehenga, adorned with intricate henna designs and stunning blue and gold jewelry, including the Mungulum (ceremony necklace) and bangles. Her choice of traditional sandals complemented her outfit perfectly. What touched my heart was the inclusion of a piece of her dad’s shirt in her bouquet and the pearl jewelry she wore, a poignant tribute to her father who had passed away. Her bridesmaids were equally elegant in their beautiful pink sarees, creating a vibrant and harmonious ensemble. Krishna was dashing in a cool blue Sherwani, while the groomsmen looked sharp in light blue Kurta Pyjamas. The blend of colors and traditional attire made for a visually stunning celebration of love and culture.
The Varmala Ceremony
The Varmala Ceremony was a highlight of the day, taking place against the backdrop of the Boston Harbor. In Indian culture, this ceremony marks the commencement of the Hindu wedding, symbolizing the first meeting of the bride and groom before the official ceremonies begin. The exchange of garlands, or “Mala,” made of beautifully arranged flowers strung together, was a symbol of their union and mutual acceptance. Guests joyfully passed around the rings, blessing them before they were finally exchanged between the bride and groom. It was a moment filled with love, laughter, and heartfelt blessings, creating memories that will be cherished forever.
The Reception
As the day transitioned into evening, the festivities continued with an enchanting reception. Everyone changed into western traditional clothing, adding another layer of elegance to the celebration. The dance floor became a stage for joyous revelry as guests danced the night away. I captured heartfelt moments such as the touching mother/son dance and Kate’s tribute to her late father, which moved everyone present. The sunset provided the perfect backdrop for capturing some truly magical moments in front of the harbor, adding a touch of romance to an already unforgettable evening.
Capturing Kate and Krishna’s Indian wedding at the Hyatt Regency Boston Harbor was an incredible experience. The richness and beauty of Indian culture were on full display throughout the day, from the vibrant attire to the meaningful rituals and heartfelt moments shared among loved ones. It was a privilege to witness and document such a beautiful celebration of love, family, and tradition.
