When Izumi Hara (the mother) reached out about booking a session for her family, I knew it was going to be special! One of their daughters was graduating college, and they wanted to celebrate the milestone with a few portraits—both on campus and at the home they stay at each summer during their vacations in Maine.
There’s something so meaningful about documenting a family in places that hold real memories. The campus photos felt full-circle, capturing not just an achievement, but the love and support that helped make it possible. Afterward, we headed to the coastal home where they’ve spent so many summers together. The light was beautiful, the energy relaxed, and you could tell everyone felt right at home.
One of my favorite moments from the session was when I asked Dad to stand with the four most important women in his life—his wife and three daughters. The pride and happiness on his face said everything. It was such a simple pose, but it carried so much heart.
The Hara family was an absolute joy to photograph! They were warm, kind, and so connected, and I’m honored to have helped capture this moment in their story. Thank you, Hara family, for letting me be a part of your Maine tradition. I hope these photos bring you right back to this summer—again and again.
