A surprise proposal in the rain?! This was made for a movie! I had a blast photographing Kapil and Aditi’s proposal at Acadia National Park. Kapil reached out to me a few weeks before their trip, hoping to plan the perfect surprise proposal for Aditi. After a bit of back-and-forth, we decided that Sand Beach would be the spot. Classic Acadia—rugged cliffs, crashing waves, and all the beauty Maine has to offer.
When the big day arrived, so did the rain. But instead of waiting it out, Kapil and Aditi embraced the weather, and honestly, I’m so glad they did. As Kapil dropped to one knee on the sand with the ocean roaring behind him, Aditi’s face lit up with joy. It was amazing!
After the proposal, we hopped in the car and drove to a little hidden gem near Otter Cliff to finish up the session. The storm gave the cliffs an almost cinematic feel—moody skies, wild wind, and raindrops clinging to Aditi’s glasses. Some of my favorite photos are from that stretch of time. Her wind-blown hair, the way they held onto each other and laughed through it all—it was the kind of authenticity you just can’t stage.
I never plan for sessions in the rain, but they always up end being some of the most fun shoots! Thank you Kapil and Aditi for embracing the rain and being so much fun to work with!
