Whitney and Richard are such an amazing couple; their joy is contagious. Every moment of their wedding day in Freeport, Maine, was filled with laughter and love and I’m so happy to have photographed it!
Creative Moments from the Pre-Wedding Prep
Tucked away in the heart of Freeport Village, the Hilton Garden Inn Freeport Downtown is your ideal location for a classy, traditional wedding. It was such a fun day and a gorgeous fall wedding! I started the day by capturing Whitney and Richard as they prepared for their big moment. Richard had something a little different planned—he opted for a professional straight-edge shave in his hotel room. Brides often have their hair and makeup done professionally, so why not an old-fashioned shave for the groom? I absolutely loved this idea and decided to create something unique for the moment. Instead of just photographing the shave as it happened, I put a flash with a blue gel behind Richard, casting a cool hue across the room. Then, I added a grid on another flash aimed directly at Richard, creating a spotlight effect that added drama to the photo. The result was a striking image that perfectly captured the mood of the moment. Another highlight of the day was a composite photo of Richard and his groomsmen at a boardroom table. I took individual shots of each guy under a spotlight, then used a red gel to light the wall behind Richard. Combining these in Photoshop resulted in one epic groomsman pic that truly stood out.
A Stunning Fall Wedding Celebration
Whitney and Richard’s ceremony was nothing short of beautiful. Held in the elegant Ballroom, the space was filled with florals that added a touch of warmth and vibrancy to the occasion. The sunflowers, in particular, were a stunning choice, bringing a burst of sunshine to the room. After they said “I do,” we headed outside to take photos of the newlyweds and the wedding party. Fall in Maine is breathtaking, especially in Freeport, where the colorful leaves create a picturesque backdrop. The scenery was absolutely gorgeous, making every shot feel like a postcard. We then made our way to the reception, which carried the fall theme beautifully. The centerpieces were pumpkins filled with floral arrangements, and the cupcakes and cookies were decorated with fall leaves, adding a festive touch to the celebration. The night concluded with champagne, dancing, and one last picture of the newlyweds, bathed in warm yellow lighting. It was the perfect end to a wonderful fall wedding, and I couldn’t have imagined a more fitting celebration for such a perfect couple!
